Preeclampsia (abstract)

Aims: understand the concept of "Preeclampsia". This illness has two principal symptoms that affect pregnant women. One is high blood pressure and  the other is present protein in the urine. The preeclampsia affect only pregnant women, putting in risk the life of the mother and new born too.

Methods: five years ago, in Chile was made a studying about the frecuency of this illness.The doctors made the observations in two groups of women how present this illness. In one of them were pregnant women between 25 and 38 years, and the other was in pregnant women over 40 years . The idea was to check, if the age was a variable to developing this illness, and the frecuency to present this problem. In U.S.A was made the same studying, with the same conditions.

Results: in Chile, the illness was more frequent to see in the group to women over to 40 years old than the other group with younger women. The percentage was between 5-8%, including all women. The frecuency in the group with women to 25 and 38 years old was between 4-6%, but in the other group was between 35-42%. In USA the percentage was between 12-15%.

Conclusions: women over 40 years increase the risk to get preeclampsia. The doctors should pay attention in those pregnant women and discarding any suspected of this illness, to prevent any other severe step that could developing the mother and/or baby.

Preeclampsia

Aims: understand the concept "preeclampsia", how this illness affect pregnant women and the developed of baby. Which are the dangers for both, their symptoms and treatment.

Purpose: how frequent this illness affect pregnant women in Chile, and how to deal with it in my professional future like midwifery.

Main issues:
  • Definition of preeclamsia.  
  • Symptoms and dangers to women and fetus.
  • Frequency of this illness in Chile and world.
  • Treatment of preeclampsia in Chile.
Conclusions: know what to do with women who have this illness, how support and help them(mothers and babys).

Hi, my name is Belén Monserrat Aliaga Godoy and i gonna tell you a little of my life. I was born in February 10, 1992 in Santiago, Chile. I live in Ñuñoa in apartment with my mom, dad and sister. We have a great relationship, especially my sister and I.We are very good sisters and friends, we tell us everything. She is two years younger than me, but even that we support each other.
My mom is spanish teacher and my dad is supervisor of a call center. They are married twenty years ago.
I have two pets, a dog and a cat. Normally, these two animals doesn't are good friends, but my pets are used to live in the same place. This is because i have them since eleven and seven years ago. They are part of my family and i love them so much.
I like every kind of music, pop, rock, romantic music, everything and i love to dance too. Whenever i can, i going out with my school friends, their names are Carolina, Nicole, Michelle, Catalina and Natalia. I know them four years ago and we are very close.
I graduated two years ago and last year i made a precollege and also worked in call center.
Now i'm studying widwifery in Universidad de Chile and i very proud to myself for belong there. All my family are so happy for my goals and to see me happy in that university.
My hobby is dance and i wanna learn belly dance. I hope next summer get into an academy and learn that. I think will be a little complicated, but i willing to learn by putting my best effort.
